Rick Steves in Aix-en-Provence
Rick Steves, America's most respected authority on European travel, visited Aix-en-Provence to update his European and French Travel Guide books for the 2016/17 editions. 'Discover Provence Tours' was honored to have been chosen by Rick Steves to provide local expertise. I spent an enjoyable couple of days introducing Rick and his team to our beautiful city.
Rick especially enjoyed a visit to the newly opened Hotel Caumont, situated in the downtown quartier of Le Mazarin. The Hotel (translated as a Mansion) was renovated back to its original style over a 2 year period and was opened to the public as an arts centre in May 2015. The building itself is a beautiful example of local architecture of the mid 17th century . As well as hosting two art exhibitions a year , the centre also has a restaurant, gardens, shop and small cinema showing a film about the life of Cezanne in Aix.
