Testimonial : Wine Tour to Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Romain was the perfect guide for the three of us to learn more about the wine, culture, sensibility and history of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and winemaking and winetasting in Provence. He picked us up at our rental home and for the entire afternoon, at a wonderfully relaxed and comfortable pace, toured us up to a hilltop vineyard in Chateauneuf-du-Pape to learn about the different soils unique to the area and responsible for the "terroir", and then to tours and tasting at two different, but thoroughly representative, wineries; one was smaller, intimate and more leisurely, the other was a larger, chateau-based estate. Being at both was a delightful contrast, and Romain helped out magnificently all along the way with interesting tidbits of history, culture, tradition, sport and daily life in the area, along with all the useful info about the wines themselves. I would not hesitate to recommend Romain and his tour to anyone visiting the area.
We had arranged this tour through Sarah at Discover Provence.
