Frédéric Mistral (1830-1914)- a writer and poet who wrote about Provence
Paul Cézanne (1839-1906)- born in Aix-en-Provence and famous for his impessionist paintings of the Aixoise countryside and the Mont Ste Victoire
Alphonse Daudet (1840-1897) - a writer born in Nimes he wrote 'Lettres de mon Moulin' about life at the windmill in Fontvieille
