Cézanne in Provence - Aix-en-Provence and surrounding countryside - Full Day
Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) was described by Picasso as 'The Father of Modern Art'
He is widely known as one of the most influential artists in the history of 20th century painting. He was born and died in his beloved Aix-en-Provence - the town and local countryside feature many times in his most famous paintings and were a lifelong inspiration to his work.
On this fascinating full day Cézanne in Provence tour we will look into the life and works of the great artist starting with a walking tour of Aix-en-Provence where we will trace the steps of Cézannes' childhood and youth. We will then take a short road trip to the foot of the famous Mont Sainte-Victoire, the mountain to the east of Aix, which Cézanne painted and sketched over 83 times during his lifetime. In the afternoon we will visit Cézannes' studio, his nearby favourite outside painting area, and the grounds of the Cézanne family home, the Jas du Bouffan, where Paul Cézanne was first inspired to create some of his most important work.

Testimonial: Cézanne in Provence - Full Day Tour
We spent a full day with Sarah Pernet in Provence to visit important Cezanne sights and to learn about his life and art. Sarah drove four of us in her van to key Cezanne locations which would have been very difficult to do on our own in one day. During the tour, she provided a wonderful overview of the history of Aix and Paul Cezanne that we found very interesting and comprehensive. She included a lovely recommendation for lunch in a quaint restaurant along the route of the tour. Additionally, we greatly enjoyed spending time with Sarah to gain her insights into life in Provence as she experiences it every day. We frequently get tour guides when we travel, and Sarah is at the top of the list in terms of her knowledge and focus on delivering an excellent customer experience and holiday for her clients. Sarah is a gem, and we look forward to taking our family to Provence soon to experience the Cezanne and other tours that Sarah provides.
